The White Princess by Philippa Gregory is a historical-fiction novel first published in 2013. In the author’s reading order suggestion, which follows the real world history, it is the 5th book in The Plantagenet and Tudor Novels (combination of Tudor Court and Cousins’ War series). The series loosely adapts the English history, mainly focusing on important female royalties. This particular book follows the story of Elizabeth of York, daughter of King Edward IV and wife of King Henry VII.
As suggested in Phillipa Gregory’s reading order, the book is preceded by The Kingmaker’s Daughter (book 4) and followed by The Constant Princess (book 6). (You can find other books in the series here.)

Summary of the Book
When Henry Tudor picks up the crown of England from the mud of Bosworth field, he knows he must marry the princess of the enemy house—Elizabeth of York—to unify a country divided by war for nearly two decades.
But his bride is still in love with his slain enemy, Richard III—and her mother and half of England dream of a missing heir, sent into the unknown by the White Queen. While the new monarchy can win power, it cannot win hearts in an England that plots for the triumphant return of the House of York.
Henry’s greatest fear is that somewhere a prince is waiting to invade and reclaim the throne. When a young man who would be king leads his army and invades England, Elizabeth has to choose between the new husband she is coming to love and the boy who claims to be her beloved lost brother: the rose of York come home at last.
Reviews of The White Princess
I won’t give it away but if you know Tudor history and/or you’ve read her other novels, you will see what becomes of this curse. The story was done well: did one of the princes believed to have died in the tower survive and is he going to try to claim the throne from Henry VII? This book explores that in a most interesting manner. I’m only disappointed that I’m finished. I absolutely LOVE these books!! (by Heather, goodreads.com)
