Originally published in 2010, Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins is a spectacular 3rd and final novel in The Hunger Games Dystopian science-fiction trilogy. Just like its two prequels, the book has become a huge hit bestseller, especially among young adult readers. Most critics also accepted well with mostly positive reviews on the book.
In Mockingjay, the rebellion carried out by the districts of Panem against the tyrannical Capitol was nearing its peak. The imaginary District 13 turned out to be real and full of revolutionary leaders. The rebellion had been planned long before. And surprisingly, Katniss Everdeen’s action and victory in The Hunger Games were always part of that plan. Katniss now had a bigger responsibility on her shoulders: to unify the districts and lead them in the rebellion.
The book is preceded by Catching Fire.

Summary of the Book
Katniss Everdeen, girl on fire, has survived, even though her home has been destroyed. Gale has escaped. Katniss’s family is safe. Peeta has been captured by the Capitol. District 13 really does exist. There are rebels. There are new leaders. A revolution is unfolding.
It is by design that Katniss was rescued from the arena in the cruel and haunting Quarter Quell, and it is by design that she has long been part of the revolution without knowing it. District 13 has come out of the shadows and is plotting to overthrow the Capitol. Everyone, it seems, has had a hand in the carefully laid plans—except Katniss.
Reviews of Hunger Games #3: Mockingjay
“At its best the trilogy channels the political passion of 1984, the memorable violence of A Clockwork Orange, the imaginative ambience of The Chronicles of Narnia and the detailed inventiveness of Harry Potter.” —New York Times
“Unfolding in Collins’ engaging, intelligent prose and assembled into chapters that end with didn’t-see-that-coming cliffhangers, this finale is every bit the pressure cooker of its forebears. [Mockingjay] is nearly as shocking, and certainly every bit as original and thought provoking, as The Hunger Games. Wow.” —Los Angeles Times
“This concluding volume in Collins’s Hunger Games trilogy accomplishes a rare feat, the last installment being the best yet, a beautifully orchestrated and intelligent novel that succeeds on every level.” —Publishers Weekly
