Summary of the Book
The Death Cure by James Dashner (PDF) further follows the adventure of Thomas in the Glade. It starts with his four-week imprisonment in solitary confinement. He is finally released and the Rat Man convinces him that there is no cure for the Flare. He also says, most of the Gladers are immune and therefore many people outside hate them. For that reason, they are probably safer inside than outside.
The memories of most Gladers and Group B members are restored and they manage to escape. However, Thomas, Newt and Minho refuse the restoration. Later, they escape on their own with Jorge and Brenda. Thomas’ group comes to a city. There, they disable the WICKED’s devices planted in their brains and team up with Right Arm, an organization fighting against WICKED.
Reviews of The Death Cure
This third Maze Runner book starts right where book two leaves off—where Thomas is in a white room held by WICKED because he has The Flare. Right from the start there is a lot of action and a huge unexpected plot twist.
The characters in the book really pop out to me how much they respond like real people. They connect to you in ways that other books rarely do. When they do something fantastic, you’re happy and excited, you’re sharing that emotion with them. When someone dies or gets sick, you can feel the pain that them and others go through (I felt this when one of the characters I liked died toward the end of the book). I think the characterization is one of the best things in this story, and of this author by far. One of the characters in particular, Brenda, is expanded upon much more and she contributes to the surprising plot twist. (Eric A, amazon.com)
