Reviews of Adobe Photoshop CC Classroom in a Book 2017
Adobe Photoshop has to be one of the most complicated but useful programs that normal, non-IT people use. That’s if you call photographers normal. There seems to be 4 or 5 ways to do anything, and many parts of the program are so specialized that they are only needed by professionals in graphic design or 3D graphic. It is also constantly changing with new updates and almost annual major releases. How does a photographer go about learning what they need to know to use it successfully? I think this book is as good a way as any to get started with Photoshop.
The authors give an introduction to the interface and then move on to basic skills. They cover camera raw, basis corrections, selections, layers, masks and channels. Then they move on to some other more advanced or creative skills like compositing or painting with the mixer brush. A photographer might think that some of the sections are more for graphic design, and they probably are, but eventually you may want to add typography to an image an turn it into your Christmas card. Also most every digital camera now does video so a little knowledge on how to edit a video is not a bad thing. It finishes up with some information on exporting and printing.
No book will tell you everything you will need to know about Photoshop, even the thick ones that can give you a hernia just picking them up. This one provides a good start. Then it is adding techniques overtime to round out your ability to craft the image you envision. (by Tyson Smith, amazon.com)
